There are many animals that look alike but are actually totally different. Moths and butterflies are creatures that have a similar outlook but are very different.

Butterflies and moths both have two wings, but they have different body color and texture. Butterflies have various bright colors like pink and orange, so they look prettier than moths. However, moths usually appear in dark colors to protect themselves. Also, butterflies are smooth and soft, while moths are hairy and fuzzy.

            Even though they both are insects, butterflies and moths have totally different habits. While butterflies tend to be active in the day time, moths tend to be active at night. Additionally, butterflies prefer flowers or plants to flutter around, but moths prefer bright light.

            Though butterflies and moths might seem the same, people think of them both in a different way. Since butterflies are pretty looking insects, and they do no harm, people call them guests while people call moths pests because they disturb people during nighttime activities.

Because of the three main points: body color, habits, and people’s opinion, humans can usually differentiate between the two insects. Since people nowadays use genetic modification, I believe that moths would soon be very similar to the butterflies.
